“I am very excited to be part of not only Otsego Public Schools, but Dix Street Elementary as well. Everyone I have met so far has been incredibly welcoming and helpful. Otsego has a great community feel and a solid school system. I am honored to be a bulldog,” she says. Mrs. Taylor is returning to her roots by joining OPS. She is from Vicksburg and lived in West Michigan most of her life.
She has 22 years in education and started her teaching career in Paw Paw as a 7th grade math, science and ELA teacher. She also taught in Comstock before moving into administration at Pennfield Schools in Battle Creek. She most recently served as the elementary principal and superintendent for Fairview Schools.
She grew up in a family of educators and knew this was the career for her after working at an elementary school in her 20's. “My favorite part of education is being able to watch students as they grow and achieve things they might not have thought possible.”
Taylor strives to be a servant leader who's philosophy is 'kids first'. "When our students are the center of our decisions, we can't go wrong."
She and her husband, who is also in education, have a yellow lab-mix named Jefferson and pet rat named Henry that she got from a science teacher. They love traveling, visiting lakes around Michigan and spending time outdoors. She is very excited to be back in West Michigan and to be a part of the Bulldog family.
