LNG Receives $5,000 Grant

Preschoolers attending the new Learn ‘n Grow Early Childhood Education Center will be outside throughout the seasons and a new grant will help them prepare for conditions and enhance their learning.

Otsego is excited to announce that Learn ‘n Grow has received a $5,000 grant from the Mignon Sherwood Delano Foundation to purchase rain coats, rain/snow boots and outdoor sorting tables for the students.

These items will allow us to maximize learning time outside by keeping kids dry and warm in inclement weather.  The sorting tables will provide an additional playground experience for learning; it’s a perfect platform for students to collect items from nature, count and sort them. “Our students are going to be exploring their natural environment so this will be a great addition to our daily activities,” says Heather Badders, Director of Early Childhood. These activities encourage students to practice shapes, numbers, colors, patterns, sizes, etc.

“We are grateful to the Delano Foundation for helping us provide additional outdoor opportunities for our students in this new nature-based preschool,” says Heather Kortlandt, Director of Instruction for Otsego Public Schools. The grant will purchase 50 coats, 50 pair of boots and 2 tables.
