May 17th kicked of Purple Week 2021, Otsego Public Schools' 6th Purple Community event for cancer & Parkinson's research at Van Andel Institute. VAI is a global leader in biomedical research and 100% of proceeds from Purple Community fundraisers goes directly to research.
This year's Purple Week consists of dress-up days, where each day is a color representing a different type of cancer. Friday is purple signifying survival as we honor those in the fight against these diseases.
The week will end with a fun 5K Color Run/Walk (registration is now closed) on Saturday, May 22nd. We have 135 participants who will wind their way around our campus ending behind the stadium for games & fun!
Also this week:
- Pizza Hut is hosting a Dine to Donate night on Thursday, May 20th from 4-8pm. 10% of sales will go toward Purple Week.
- The Petal Company is selling purple carnations for $2 with all sales going to Purple Week.
- The Bridge Street Deli is contributing 15% of sales of purple smoothies to Purple Week.

Earlier in the week, we kicked off purple games with our tennis and soccer teams wearing special jerseys for the cause and honoring a loved one with a name on the backs of the shirts. The purple softball game is Thursday, May 20th at 4pm and the purple baseball game is Monday, May 24th.
